Love?! (100th post! Weeee!)
//Woah. After about 3 years (I think), I finally reached my 100th post! Weee!
I know. I know. The topic sounds cheesy. Let it sound cheesy if it must, because I want to express my thoughts about the "thing" (idea rather) that is supposed to make the world go round - love.
Probably, the briefest and best definition I came across about love is "You don't know why you love a person. You just do." Weirdly, I read this so-called definition of love through the form of a fanfic, (Yes, a fanfic. haha.) and it had struck me ever since.
Famous definitions of love include the following:
(1)"Love is God."/"God is love."
- I don't blame people for always spitting this sentence out, but how about those who don't believe that God exists?
(2)"Love is patient. Love is kind. It envies no one..." 1 Corinthians 13:4
- This definition is one of my favorites. It must have shot to fame because of the "A Walk to Remember" movie. However, it is too long to memorize, and in some cases, too intimidating to understand.
(3)"Love... makes the world go round."
- If you have watched the Powerpuff Girls, you must know this one. However, I still cannot figure out how it actually makes the world go round.
I don't know about other people's opinion, but that definition (You don't know why you love a person. You just do.") is the best one for me. It answers all the questions as to why somebody loves the other. Why parents love their children, why God loves us, etc. Maybe at first, you love somebody because there is a reason behind it. Babies love their mothers because mothers take care of them and guide them, but as these babies turn into adults, the things that their mothers did to them are just memories. Many people might be mislead and say that people love each other because of the so-called "utang na loob". But then, when I try to think of it and ask myself why I love the people I love, I will end up saying "I don't know why. I just do." Maybe, I first loved my parents because they gave me what I needed in life, but as I grew older and they slowly became my friends, I spend time with them because I just do. The things that they did for me when I was a kid really isn't the basis on why I continue to put up with them every single day, because as I said, I love them because "I just do". Love is unexplainable. It will always remain a mystery. So far, "I just do" is the most precise answer I can give to those who ask why I love them. To my relatives, friends, pets and God. Go think it over yourself, and tell me your opinion, but for me, I love somebody because "I just do".Labels: love
